New Job

Well all I started this blog in the hopes to journal some of what I do in a normal day but since moving things have been rather hectic here. My oldest, J1, was diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome and ADHD. It has been a long time but we finally now have a dx for what it is that has been the emotional problem. We are working hard to work with a therapist and get a routine in place to handle her needs. I am still working with my youngest as a learning coach for her schooling in home. I also got a part time job working at my oldest daughters school as lunch lady. Its been a drastic change for the whole family and we are slowly learning our new schedules. I will try to post more in the next week as things start to return to normal.

All Moved In.

Well it took a few month but we are now all moved in to our new much smaller digs. We decided it was necessary to downsize with the way things with the economy were going. I think it is a wonderful opportunity for the girls in a new area of town to meet new people and make some new friends. I am almost done unpacking boxes and reorganizing all the belongings of everyone. It was not easy as I had to purge a lot from a 3 bedroom home to a much smaller apartment. So with everything slowly getting put in its place I shall be more active with my blog and life.

8lbs. In 14 days

As I told you in my last blog, I was going to try to start living healthier.  Well that started Dec.27th and Jan. 1st. I started changing my eatting habits on the first date and quit smoking on the 1st of the year.  I am proud to say I have been clean of cigarettes for the last week and am feeling great.  My cough that used to drive me crazy is no more.  My taste buds are finally coming back.  My habits of grabbing for a cigarette is no longer an issue.

As for my dieting and changing my life to be healthier, well I am now 8 pounds lighter and moving forward every day to change one thing I didn't like last year.  I now have a variety of fruits and veggies I am consuming and you couldn't get me to do that ever.  I am working out 3 times a week for 30 minutes a day and I even have got the kids moving more.  They are enjoying the new mommy and love that I am getting healthier for them and for myself.

My hubby thinks I am going through some sort of midlife crisis at the age of 37 and I told him maybe I am.  I lived this way for so long that I didn't think twice about it.  Before I started I sat around constantly and ate everything in sight.  Now I am exercising and have more energy to do things my kids want me to do.  All in two weeks time I have managed to change how my life will be from now on.  I am not gasping for air as much when I walk up the stairs. That used to scare me.  Now I still can not do some simple things but trust me I will get there and I will succeed.

A Brand New Year

I have been trying my hardest to write this blog but life and all that comes with it seems to get in my way. I am not complaining at all as without my family and my life there would be nothing to write. I try to sit down at my desk and compose this blog but the words just would not come.

I have decided to make this blog about the last year and all that I managed to accomplish. Its a short list as I really only accomplished one major thing this year. To become a mom in the real sense of the word. I have taken on schooling my kids. To me that was not an easy thing to do. I had to reorganize my oldest daughters room into a classroom after telling her she would be sharing a room with her sister. After setting up all things I managed to get schooling and it has been a blast for all of us.

My girls love that mom is the learning coach. They love that they get to use computers to do the school work instead of being lectured by a teacher and sitting at a desk all day. We turn most things into games or work it into a task in our every day life. Learning math through recipes and cooking. Learning history from trips to museums and web tours. Learning science with basic household items. Taking walks or doing something active for PE.

So that was my one accomplishment for the year. Now on to a brand new year and the major thing I want to do is lose weight and get healthy for my girls so that I can be that fun mom again. I will be starting my Journey today and you all will get to follow me on my path to getting my life back on track. So here is to a brand new me in 2010.

Welcome to my blog

Hello and Welcome to my first ever blog. My name is Sharon. I am a 30 something work at home mother of two. I am married to a wonderful man, Big D.  Our children are J1, who is 9 and J2, who is 6. We also have a cat named Angel. We live in Toledo, Ohio. We are currently on break for winter vacation so I thought no time like the present to start working on my new blog.

I'm currently a learning coach or teacher to my two children and it takes up a lot of time during the day. J1 and J2 are both enrolled in a virtual school this year and I must say that it has been a blessing. I love having the control of the education in my hands and not someone elses. I admit we still have a curriculm that we follow but I use it as a base for what I want to teach them and what I don't. My husband thought I was nuts when I mentioned I wanted to do this with our girls. He thought it would be too much for me. I thought that too at first but now I am seeing great improvement in both my girls. They may not have much of a social network but I figure in the long run they will be better educated then if in a school that wasn't thriving.

I also have a part-time craft business on Etsy.com. I make mostly pillows but am branching off that lately and started on making other products to sell. You can find my shop here at Soaring Eagle Design. I would like to eventually add my husband to my crafting business but he is working full-time right now and doesn't have the time to put his attention into it. He enjoys working with wood and carving signs.

With all of that said I hope to also add blogging to my resume of things that I love to do. I enjoy writing stories and poems so I am sure I will also be adding that into this blog at some point. My other hobbies are cooking, baking, and spending quality time with my family and friends. Thank you for visiting my little site and hope to add more content soon.
